After a few months backpacking I found myself in Porto, Portugal. It was here where I would catch a flight back to New Jersey. The Ironbound District in Newark, NJ is known for being a Portuguese neighborhood. Flights from Portugal to Newark, and vice versa, are pretty cheap. My TapAir flight back home happened to be a red-eye. So I had big dinner, bought some Port Wine and Cuban cigars at the airport and boarded my flight back to Jersey. I sat next to an older American lady travelling by herself. We didn't chat much about anything most of the flight, but there was something about this woman that sparked my interest. The last few minutes of the flight we got to talking and I learned that she runs an orphanage in Haiti. I knew orphanages existed, but I never met anyone who has ever even seen an orphanage never mind owned and operated one. I told her that I would love to learn more. We exchanged information and a few weeks later I received a personalized package with DVDs and a book about Ruuska Village, her orphanage. 2 years later I am still receiving personalized letters. I thought to myself How can I help? So, I decided to add a Philanthropy page on my website. If you have a good cause that you would like promoted please let me know. Please check out the below link and share with whomever you feel could help.
